Welcome to Danube! We are ready to charm music lovers once again with the next edition of the Danube Festival July 5th to 8th 2024. Due to ongoing difficulties with the local authorities we have taken the decision of moving this year’s festival to Anomalie Art Club in Berlin.
We promise a weekend full of musical experiences and cultural exchange. Every festival-goer can easily reach the venue and enjoy non-stop dancing on the floors for the entire weekend.
Hosting the 2nd stage at the festival, Slapfunk and Yoyaku, renowned for their outstanding events and label contributions, join forces to bring their international flair from Amsterdam and Paris. Half Baked from London, celebrated for their carefully curated lineups, teams up with Resolute from Brooklyn, promising a special experience. Additionally, the inclusion of O Mato from Berlin, whose dedication to open-air culture adds further excitement to the festival.
The mission of Danube lies in creating a space where individuals from all over the world can come together, share moments and connect through music. The festival aims to give back to the cultural tapestry that makes cities like Berlin interesting and unique. Practically everyone involved, whether it’s before, during, or after the festival, shares a close friendship. The main goal is therefore the welcoming vibe at the festival and to create a place for the open air culture in this region with a festival for a whole weekend with music nonstop on two stages. You will also find a chillout- and downtempo-area, a food court and different light- and art-installations.
Last year, we proudly hosted the “Rhythms of Revolution” exhibition, delving into the institutions and influential figures behind techno and house music. Exploring their rich history and cultural significance, the exhibition painted a vivid picture of the movements shaping the electronic music landscape. This year, an open call for artists is extended to contribute to the exhibition
“With the successes of their Danube festival year in year out, they have quickly made a name for themselves as serious curators, and festival hosts as editions have seen a plethora of minimal’s most exciting artists playing under the planes at Kiekebusch See”

The festival draws inspiration from the Danube River, known for its journey through more countries than any other river on the planet. Symbolizing cultural exchange, international connections and living together in diversity, the Danube River serves as a metaphor for the essence of this event.
Due to ongoing difficulties with the local authorities we have taken the decision of moving this year’s festival to Anomalie Art Club in Berlin. This decision weighed heavily on us, but we’d like to share our reasoning with you.
Our primary goal had always been to establish an open-air festival in Berlin and Brandenburg and finally, we achieved this last year. What remains unknown to many is how it almost didn’t happen. In the weeks leading up to the event, we found ourselves in legal battles, appearing before German courts in three cases. One of these cases even reached the 2nd highest court of Germany and the final decision was taken just two hours before we opened the doors. Fortunately, the court ruled in favor of culture and open-air festivals in the region.
Since then we worked hard to continue at the location. We met many different stakeholders including representatives of different departments of the local authorities who not only complimented us for our good work but gave us confidence that it wouldn’t be like the last years. You can call us naive that we believed in this but since we are now facing new difficulties we took the decision of moving the festival as we are just tired of these ongoing fights. We want to create events and not talk to lawyers and judges day in and day out. You have to imagine that we spent more on lawyers than on our complete lineup for the festival last year.
This topic needs more attention as it gets harder and harder to do the things we do. We know that many organizers are struggling with similar problems while trying to organize events in Germany. We can all work on this together and each one of you can help us by spreading this story. In the next few weeks we will publish a detailed history about what happened but let us focus on the good news for now.
We can keep everything how it’s planned. The format won’t change at all. The location will be in Berlin and is called Anomalie. We want to focus on what matters the most to us which is creating spaces where we can celebrate together. We will have many indoor and outdoor possibilities at a beautiful location which was just built a few years back. You can expect our usual high standard on everything. We’ve decided to stretch the festival vibes until monday morning, complete with a handful of extra surprises to make your experience even more memorable. We want to thank the amazing people of this venue who really help us here. It’s also nice that we will return to the place where we started the project with our first event 5 years ago.
We want to thank Bert Greif who supported us a lot over the last years and offered his beautiful location Kiekebusch See. Also a big thank you goes out to our lawyers from Härting.
Every ticket holder will be contacted via email about further information. We updated all the information about the festival on our website and on Resident Advisor.
We will never give up but the most important thing is that the festival stays alive and will be the home for all of our guests. See you very soon!
